My experience includes 20+ years in traditional television media, including more than 10 years managing all news content for an NBC network affiliate. While the technology has changed, my core strengths and interests have not. I thrive most in cutting edge, creative, and future-oriented environments. Comfortable in a collaborative setting, yet independent enough to see long-form projects through with little to no supervision.
I was nominated in May 2021 for an EMMY® for Director on the research-based documentary, The Social Divide. It aired on the NBC affiliate in Chattanooga, TN and the CBS affiliate in Reno, NV. The documentary tracked five families for one year to compare their keys to happiness with national research. After nearly 10 years as News Director for WRCB, I moved into a role under our corporate CEO to research underreported trends and challenges in our two television markets. Until 2017, I was responsible for all day to day news operations of the NBC affiliate in Chattanooga, including the direct supervision of 40+ journalists and 35+ hours of live programming per week. Led the perennial #2 newsroom to first place with an exceptional staff. Job satisfaction and retention improved.
